Villagers Turn Part Of Pub Into Church
Christians in a remote village who have been without a local church since theirs was declared redundant several years ago now worship in a courtroom in a pub.
On the first Sunday of each month a congregation of around 15 people gathers in the crown courtroom at the village local for a service conducted by a full-time minister.
The courtroom in the historic pub was formerly used by the notorious 'hanging judge' Judge Jeffreys who meted out savage sentences to those involved in the Duke of Monmouth's 'Pitchfork Rebellion' of 1685.
