Curate Aids Getaway

An unwitting curate bought thieves petrol for their getaway car after they snatched a boy's wheelchair from a city cathedral.

Detectives investigating the theft of Richard Taylor's chair said a man pushing a woman, matching the culprits' descriptions, asked the curate for cash.

The cleric went with them to the Jet filling station and paid for petrol for a beige B-registered saloon car.

Richard,12,had been praying for his dead grandad when the thieves stole his chair.

Duped curate Chris Goyle said "They said they were halfway through a journey and were running out of petrol.Anyone who poses as disabled when they're clearly not is very wrong."
