Dozy Driver Gets Four Fines in One Hour
Dozy driver Derek Dobson has been awarded an unwanted land speed record after being caught breaking the speed limit four times in just 58 minutes.
Amazingly, the neighbourhood watch co-ordinator managed all of the motoring mishaps on the exact same stretch of road.
The 44-year-old clocked up the speeding fines on a 30mph section of a local trunk road as he drove to and from a garage repairing his M-reg Skoda Favorit.
At 8.53am,a police camera recorded Mr Dobson's Skoda travelling at 48mph as he drove it to the garage.
At 9.10am,he was caught at 49mph heading home in a courtesy car.
Realising he'd left his orange disability card in his Skoda,he set off back to the garage - and was snapped at 9.40am doing 45mph.
He then headed home for a pre-fishing trip shower - only to be clocked at 9.51am driving at 51mph.
Derek may even face a ban when sentenced later this month because each speeding offence carries three penalty points.
The former county council engineer said "In 26 years,I've never had a speeding ticket before.
"I was late for an appointment and I was the only thing on the road. Then I was trying to cope with all the strange instrumentation on the courtesy car.
"I'm not the nicest person in the mornings and when I finally saw the policeman with his camera,I stuck my middle finger up after I'd passed him."
He pleaded guilty by letter at court to four speeding offences on February 22.
Describing his car as his "lifeline",he added "I think the Crown Prosecution Service are rubbing it in by doing me for all four."
A CPS source said "Four speeding offences in an hour is a record for us."
