Students On A Microwave March
Students Matthew Brierley and Matthew Ratcliffe have completed a 4,500 mile hike around Britain...carrying a microwave.
The journey, which started and finished on Blackpool's Golden Mile, took 40 days to complete.
The 21-year-olds,who both live near Oldham,Greater Manchester, have collected £1,000 in sponsorship for the Christie Hospital,Manchester.
Matthew Brierley said "It was quite an adventure. We met a lot of nice people. And many of them were good enough to invite us in for dinner.
"People liked the fact that we had a microwave with us,and gave us lifts because of it."
During its travels the microwave was autographed by a host of supporters and the students received a pat on the back from cricket legends Ian Botham and David Gower, who they met at an international match at Chester-le-Street,County Durham.
