Bug In Ear Holiday Hell

A woman who kept hearing strange scratching sounds as she enjoyed a holiday in the sun was horrified to discover the source of the noise.

Barbara Jenner's dream trip to Turkey turned into a nightmare after learning that an inch-long BUG had been gnawing into her ear!

Forty-five year-old Barbara felt something burrowing inside her head and making a nasty scratching sound.

At first,husband Dave tried to reassure her that she was probably having hearing problems after the flight and swimming in the pool.

But after more than 12 hours of feeling something gnawing away inside her head,they contacted a doctor who confirmed that the tiny shelled slug was lodged at the back of her ear.

Armed with a kebab-like skewer,the doctor removed the insect,which thankfully by that time was dead,and he made sure that it had not laid any eggs.

Barbara,a debt collector in England,said "All I can think is that it must have been nestling in a blanket I had thrown over me.

"The doctor said it was extremely,rare for this to happen,but nevertheless,it has left me paranoid.

"I spent the rest of my holiday with cotton wool stuffed in my ears."

She is now suffering sleepless nights as the slightest sound in the night reminds her of the earlobe invader.

Despite the holiday tale,she says she will not let the experience put her off holidays in the sun.

She has already planned a trip to Tenerife in a couple of months - but she will be packing her cotton wool just in case.
