Landlord Makes Regular's A Large One!

A pub landlord has said 'chairs' to regular Alan Hopkins after making him a large one to solve a far from pint-sized problem.

At a gigantic thirty stone,Welshman Alan's substantial frame was taking its toll of the bar stools and restaurant seats at Roy country pub.

Now mine host Roy has built his best - and biggest - customer a chair of his own which has been reinforced and will normally seat three people!

Roy said "Basically there wasn't a seat in the pub that could accommodate him.

"Chairs have collapsed under him and we've tried sticking the legs back on and repairing them but nothing has really worked.

"So I decided to build Alan a chair of his own.It has been reinforced and should withstand Alan's bulk for a good few years."

Roy,who runs the pub with wife Clare, spent weeks in his workshop putting the chair together.

Tables and other chairs have had to be moved away to accommodate it but Roy said he was only too pleased to make sure Alan was comfortable because he is one of his best customers.

"Alan likes a pint and devours my mega mixed grill pretty regularly so I don't want to lose him" he said.

Alan, who lives nearby, said "I feel quite honoured to have a seat to myself and must say it is very comfortable.

"It was a real squeeze to get into the other chairs in the pub but I can really spread myself in this one.

"It is actually a three-seater but it is perfect for me and my wife Jan.Mind you she is only nine stone which helps" he said.
