Biker Buys Back Beloved Triumph
A man has bought back the bike he was forced to sell more than 25 years ago - for almost ten times what it originally cost him.
Jeremy Knibbs always regretted parting with his Triumph Bonneville motorbike when he started a family in 1973.
Now 46,but still young at heart,he can ride the highways and byways on "her" again after tracking her down on the internet and buying her back for £2,500.
Jeremy, from Wales, was just 17 when he paid £275 to became "Bonnie's" first owner and would spend hours cleaning and polishing her metal and chrome.
Two years later he found love of a different kind when he met his future wife Lyndsay, and he sadly realised the 650cc machine had to go if he wanted to settle down.
Now,after months of searching the web for his beloved bike,he has finally bought her back from a woman doctor in Wiltshire.
Hotelier Jeremy decided to try and find her after hearing how a man had bought an old bike and it turned out to be one he owned years before.
"I started wondering where my Bonnie was and eventually I got in touch with the Triumph Owners Club via the internet" he said.
Although the club were able to track down the bike, they were unable to release any details of its owners to him.
He finally managed to track her down himself but persuading the GP to sell Bonnie was another feat.
"It took more than 14 months of coaxing for the woman to finally agree because the bike had sentimental value for her,as she and her husband drove away from their wedding on it" he said.
With Bonnie now safely installed at his home,he plans to restore her to her former glory.
