Connor The Cat Paints Town And House Black

When Connor the cat decided to spend a night on the tiles,he not only painted the town red...he painted his owner's home black!

Owners Paula and Laurence Wolven have been left with a bill for more than £3,500 after their moggy trod creosote throughout their newly-decorated home.

He wrecked

* Brand-new carpets

* The family three-piece suite

* A set of bed covers.

Cat-astrophic Connor had sat in a puddle of creosote which had dripped from a pole outside the house in Sussex,where the family have been living for just six weeks.

"I thought we had been cat-burgled when I woke at 6am and saw the mess.It was everywhere" said 26-year-old Paula today.

The couple were still settling into their new three-bedroomed home and had spent most of their savings gutting and renovating it.

Paula said "It was our dream home and all of a sudden it was ruined.

"I realised Connor was the guilty party when I found paw prints throughout the house and his sister Robyn upstairs.

"He had gone into virtually every room and when I couldn't find him,I became quite concerned because I started to find blood where his paws had stuck to the floor.

"It was only a few hours later,when he finally turned up,that I realised what he'd been up to.

"I found him on my daughter's bed and he was in a terrible state and was quite ill" said the mum-of-two,who only gave birth to son Kyle earlier this month.

"He had creosote all over his underside and it had burnt his legs.

"We think he not only sat in a puddle at the bottom of the pole,but had also tried to climb it."

Luckily Connor escaped serious injury,although he did have to endure some heavy cleaning at the local vets,costing another £100.

"At least he is alright.If he had tried to lick it off he could have been killed.

"The carpet can be replaced,but you could never find another cat like him" said Paula.

A specialist cleaner brought in by her insurance firm immediately wrote off the new carpet,settee and chairs and bed clothes.

"I suppose it was fated to happen as my husband spilt some drink on the carpet the night before and when it came straight out he said to me 'Nothing will stain this carpet' - well how wrong he was!"
