Artist Follows Lucious Liz With A Comedy Naomi
Artist Steve Topp is hoping his latest sculpture is not going
to fall off her platform...it's a model of catwalk queen Naomi
Campbell.
Unlike his past statues of Liz Hurley,Melinda Messenger and Emma Noble,he's decided to stray away from the usual life-like figures he makes.
"I suppose she looks almost like a
spitting image puppet" said 24-year-old Steve.
"When I was making the previous sculptures,I tried to make them as true to life as possible, working from photographs.
"This time I have been much more free in my interpretation and have come up with this version of Naomi."
When making past models,Dorset-based Steve said he has worked from photographs from magazines to try to get every detail correct.
"This time, instead of just copying Naomi's image from pictures,I looked at various shots of her and then put them away.I then went on from there."
Steve now hopes to add the Naomi sculpture to his portfolio when he travels to London later this week to apply for a job with a top London model-maker.
