No Red Car For Soccer Star
Irish soccer superkid Robbie Keane,on his way to a multi-million pound fortune at 20 years of age following his transfer from Coventry City to Italian giants Inter Milan, could face a problem because of his superstitious side.
Most top Italian football stars drive Ferraris - one of the symbols of the nation - and red is the traditional colour.
But Robbie's mum Anne has warned him
that red cars are taboo!
Anne, who lives in Dublin, was advised by a crystal ball gazer never to allow anyone in her family to possess a red motor.
And Robbie heeded her warning in January 1999 when he was given a new car by sponsors.
Hotshot Robbie, who was playing for First Division side Wolves at the time, remembered what his momma said.
He picked BLACK for his swanky sponsored £18,000 Honda CR-V off-road vehicle.
It was given to him on loan for a year by a local garage in Wolverhampton.
Robbie had been driving for only a year.
The Honda was his second car - the first was a shamrock green Fiat Bravo.
Robbie, who regularly visits his mum in Dublin, said at the time of the Honda deal "My mother went to see a fortune teller.
"She said if anyone in the family was getting a car, tell them not to get red,so I took it into consideration."
